Town of Truckee Annual Financial Report

The Administrative Services Department prepares the Annual Financial Report (AFR). The Town’s financial statements present two types of statements, each with a different snapshot of the Town’s finances. The focus is on both the Town as a whole (government-wide) and the individual funds of the Town (fund financial statements). The government-wide financial statements provide both short-term and long-term information about the Town’s overall financial status. The fund financials focus on the individual parts of Town government, reporting the Town’s operations in more detail and on a short-term basis.

The Management’s Discussion and Analysis (256KB) section of the AFR provides financial highlights of the Town’s operations as well as an analytical overview of the Town’s financial activities.

The report is audited by independent outside auditors, who express an opinion on the fairness of the financial statements.  FY08-09 Town Financial Statements

Redevelopment Agency Annual Financial Report

The Town of Truckee Redevelopment Agency is a component unit of the Town of Truckee and is presented by blending with the primary government in the Town of Truckee AFR. Separate audited financial statements are also prepared for the Redevelopment Agency.

Single Audit

The Single Audit Act of 1984 provides for state and local government recipients of federal financial awards to have one audit performed to meet the needs of all federal grantor agencies. The Town’s Single Audit is performed by the Town’s auditors, Smith and Newell, Certified Public Accountants.

Current Financial Trends

The Town’s three major sources of revenue are property tax, sales tax and transient occupancy tax. The following chart shows the trends for each of these revenue sources over the last 10 years.
