Conflicts of Interest
All government employees and elected officials who have the authority to make or influence governmental decisions must complete a Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) Form 700, also known as a Statement of Economic Interest. This form serves two important purposes: provides transparency and ensures accountability from employees and officials in two ways:
- It provides the public with information about an official's personal financial interests, ensuring that decisions are made in the public's best interest rather than for personal gain.
- It helps officials recognize potential conflicts of interest so they can avoid making decisions that may present conflicts.
You can attain copies of these Statements of Economic Interest by visiting our Town Clerk's office at 10183 Truckee Airport Road, Truckee, CA 96161 or by accessing the public search portal through Netfile.
Statements from our elected officials within the agency may be found electronically on the FPPC's website. For more information please read the Town's Conflict of Interest Code.
FPPC Form 804 identifies any new position(s) created by the Town of Truckee that are designated to file an FPPC Form 700.
FPPC Form 806 lists all paid appointed positions that receive additional compensation from other committees, boards, or commissions where they serve as members.
Elections
It's crucial that every candidate and committee know the filing schedules for their particular election. Failing to meet these deadlines can lead to penalties, being left off the ballot, or facing actions from the FPPC.
The Political Reform Act lays out clear filing rules and where candidates for state and local offices must submit their paperwork. Information about local officials' requirements can be found on the FPPC’s website.
