Why Work for Us
The Town of Truckee offers an engaging and supportive work environment. Employees enjoy a dog-friendly workplace, a comprehensive benefits package including CalPERS retirement, and extra perks negotiated by each employee group. Some departments have the option to work alternative schedules and telework on Fridays. Come join a team that knows how to serve our community, work hard, play harder, and make a difference.
"I thoroughly enjoy being out on construction sites where I can connect with local contractors and answer questions from interested community members about the projects we are working on. Being able to provide accurate information regarding various activities within the town makes me feel connected to the community."
-Scott Mathot, Engineering Manager (who sometimes moonlights as Thor)
"Being a professional staff member, and not a police officer, requires balance and tact. I like to think of myself and my front office staff as the conduit between our officers and the public, helping our community better understand the justice system and the role of the police department in keeping Truckee safe."
-Brittany Johanson, Police Support Services Supervisor
"The most fun part of my job is operating heavy equipment. I really enjoy running the excavator and the large wheel loaders that we use for snow removal. This job is truly fun for me, and I really appreciate the rewarding opportunity as well as the experience. In particular, snow removal is quite enjoyable for me. I find it very creative, bordering on artistic!"
-Brad Kohler, Street Maintenance/Equipment Operator II

This agreement is called a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Negotiations between the Town and each group can result in different benefits for the employees within those groups.
