Downtown River Revitalization Strategy

Framework MapThe Downtown River Revitalization Strategy was adopted by the Truckee Town Council on October 20, 2005 after substantial community and stakeholder input to develop an achievable vision for the land and resources along the downtown portion of the Truckee River, extending from the confluence of Donner Creek at the western end to the intersection with Trout Creek on the eastern end.

The Downtown River Revitalization Strategy reflects community input, addresses environmental and engineering issues, and establishes a climate for investment through creative design, regulation, and organization. It describes actions to revitalize underutilized lands, abate environmental degradation, and redevelop the community's neglected waterfront by providing a framework of circulation and land use to establish a climate for public improvements, such as pedestrian connections, trails and open spaces, private investment opportunities, and the potential relocation of some existing uses that may not compatible with the Truckee River.

This strategy was funded in part by Community Development Block Grant Number 02-EDBG-871.
