The Town of Truckee Planning Division is responsible for advance planning, development review, public information, and Development Code compliance. The activity is part of the Community Development Department and is managed by the Community Development Director and Town Planner. The Planning Division provides staff support to the Town Council (elected representatives) and the Planning Commission (appointed citizen planners). The Town Council provides overall policy direction, adopts ordinances and regulations, and acts as the hearing body for appeals of Planning Commission and staff decisions. The Planning Commission provides policy recommendations to the Town Council and functions as a hearing body for larger development projects within the Town.

Regular Public Meetings

Public meetings including Planning Commission, Zoning Administrator, and Historic Preservation Advisory Commission, are regularly scheduled each month and in-person. Agenda and meeting details can be found on the Town's Event Calendar.

Public comment is highly encouraged during our public meetings. Please check each meeting’s Agenda on the Town’s Event Calendar for details on how to comment via the Town's public comment portal or by email.

Information, Application & Payment Submittal

Electronic submittals and all other inquires can be handled via emailing the Planning Division or calling 530-582-7700.

New Land Use Application Submittal:

New land use applications can be submitted in the following ways:

  1. Submit your complete application electronically by emailing the Planning Division. Your application will be assigned to a planner who will contact you about payment or if additional materials are required. The preferred payment is by credit card for electronic submittals. If the application is incomplete, a planner will contact you about how to provide additional information.
  2. Mail your complete application with check payment to 10183 Truckee Airport Road, Truckee, CA 96161, Attn: Planning Division. Your application will be accepted as a new application, if it is complete. If the application is incomplete, a planner will contact you about how to provide additional information.
  3. In person at the Building Counter at Town Hall, Monday through Thursday, 8 am to noon
